So the spider gave us a bit of a handful the other night. Two attempts with no kill :-( I watched a couple of videos and found an interesting Strat from out friends down under. Typically the raid positioning looks something like this.... This is considered "The Norm" In the strat I saw it looked more like this.... Roughly the same....just turned around and closer to the entrance. As far as I can tell the positioning has something to do with the "Leashing Effect" where if something goes horribly wrong the reset threshold is nearby and it can save a bit on repairs. The Off tank also had a path that they ran when Dragging the spider back to the main tank. As the third of my crudely drawn images show.... Strategy remains the same. - Main tank keeps boss pointed away from raid as much as possible. - Off tank stays ahead of the main raid "Cluster-o-death" to catch the boss when she breaks for the casters. - Small spiders hold priority over the boss. If some spawn: switch to the spiders unless otherwise instructed. - When she switches to spider form all DPS must stop till the Main Tank has aggro again. Her AoE snare effect clears the hate list. - Mana Drains are optional. Some say it keeps her from healing as often, others say its a waste of time. Either way the life drains need to be interrupted ASAP. The only small problem with this idea is that the spider spawns will have a bit more time to grow before being engaged in combat. Not a huge amount of time....maybe half a second to a second and a half. Another idea for getting her down quick was having all Melee DPS on her when not squishing spider adds. The only problem with this is that if all melee gets snared the casters are pretty vulnerable in the event of all the melee getting caught and a 4 pack of spiders coming out

I read the Wowwiki posts. The hunter variation seems like an overly complicated way to make up for non-quality tanking. I think we should mana drain her down early and have hunters keep viper-stings on her for rest of combat. Kicks and shield bashes to interrupt her are a must as well.
One of the posts seemed to warn against DOTing her. Any clue why?

No idea really. It may have to do with her almost constant shape shifting. She may shed all of the DoTs on changing.
Back in the LNR days Turrel would have light DPS in one form then "Two lines of DoTs" and full DPS in the other.
