So a few of us have gotten our feet wet on this monster. We got him to 33% on the best attempt. To me this says that we are close, but there are a few snags that are holding us back.
Problems I saw
Interrupts: With the raid makeup we had, we were dealing with 3 interrupts. We were doing out best (I think) with what we had and it seemed to be working out somewhat. Personally I had about a 50% success rate on them. Often due to the GCD or being out of range. Wasn't anything I could do about Flame Wreaths, but Ice chains are dispellable. Perhaps next time I will ask for dispells when I get hit with that.
Flame Wreath: had a few problems with this, playing the flame wreath chant over vent seemed to solve them. In case you didn't know, this is how it works. The cast itself take about 5 seconds. During this time you should get into a good position. For example: Melee near the center, Casters near the edge in a spot where they wont get hit by the blizzard (if it is up)
Once its cast 2 to 4 random people will be surrounded by flame. if ANYONE enters or exits the circle theres a large explosion and many people get hurt pretty bad.
This is pretty tough on melee as they are all bunched up. Casters should be reasonably spread out so its not as much of an issue.
Once its cast, take a look around you and see what the field looks like. No fire anywhere near you? Great, feel free to move. Just be careful not to go near another person who may have it. If you see fire anywhere, just stand still.
Water Elementals: If these were not a part of the encounter, we would have gotten this no problem. Thats probably why they are there. With one warlock we got it down to 3 elementals.
They were showing about 13.5K health according to Lupi. He claims to be able to get one down in about 10 seconds if given the chance. So it might be helpful to kill one or two of them.
While researching this, I found its helpful to spread out the damage they do. So one healer with all kinds of heal aggro will not take 8k Damage in frost bolts all at the same time.
Another idea is to pop a tank on two of them then chain fear the third. We got plenty of options, let find what works best for us.
Any other ideas?
