Over the past few weeks you probably have noticed me passing loot off to other people when I had won it. Specifically the boots that drop off of the panther boss. The justification I had used to do this was "It is my item, I will do with it as I please".
On one of our last runs a ring was passed from a winner to another raider using the justification that they could do it because I had. I allowed it because I wanted to keep the raid moving and I did not want to be a hypocrite over looting.
After a small discussion with Danovan and Beautiqea about the subject I was convinced that allowing people to pass items like this was not a good practice. What convinced me was that if we had used the wish lists after the pass it would have completed an item set for one of our raiders and given that one person a noticeable DPS improvement.
In short: I was wrong. I should never have passed the boots to other warriors before myself. I should have allowed the wish list system to take over if I was going to pass on loot.
After reviewing the loot rules I have found no specific rule against this practice. It is implied that items will go to the next person on the list, but it is not specific about it.
We will be modifying the loot rules to reflect this and the practice will be disallowed starting on the raids for the 10th and 11th. I will not be passing items to other people starting now and I ask that you do the same.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding on this. If you have any input on the matter please post it here or talk to Beautiqea, Danovan or myself in game.
P.S. - It should also be noted that this is not intended to be a punishment against anyone. There will be no retaliation against anyone in any way if they had passed loot to someone else after they had won it. Right now I am more concerned with Fairness and Raid Progression.
